Order a repeat prescription
If your medicine is already on repeat prescription, the easiest way to order it is through:
- your NHS account, using the NHS App or NHS website
- your SystmOnline account
You can see the medicines available to order, check their doses and select the ones you need. Please order in good time before you run out.
Request medication online
You can also use our online medication request form. Select Medication request under Admin request.
This form is useful if you cannot order a medicine from your repeat prescription list, need to make another prescription request or want to ask about a medication review. You can use it without signing in, or sign in with NHS login or SystmOnline if you prefer.
We will review your request and contact you if we need more information.
Other ways to order
You can:
- bring your repeat prescription slip to the surgery during opening hours
- post your repeat prescription slip to us. If you would like the paper slip returned, please include a stamped, addressed envelope.
We do not take routine repeat prescription requests over the phone.
Collecting your medicine
Your prescription will usually be ready to collect from your nominated pharmacy 5 working days after you order it. Weekends and bank holidays are not working days, so please allow enough time.
Your nominated pharmacy is the pharmacy you have chosen to receive your prescriptions. You can change it through the NHS App or SystmOnline, by contacting the practice, or by speaking to a pharmacy.
Some pharmacies offer a delivery service. Please ask your pharmacy directly whether this is available and how to arrange it.
If you need medicine urgently
The online medication request form is not for requests that need immediate attention. If you have run out of essential medicine or cannot wait 5 working days, please contact the surgery during opening hours. When we are closed, NHS 111 can advise you about an emergency supply.
Questions about your medicines
Your local pharmacist can advise you about prescribed medicines and medicines you can buy without a prescription. You can also look up medicines, including how to take them and possible side effects, on the NHS Medicines A to Z website.

Medication reviews
If you receive repeat prescriptions, we may ask you to have a medication review. We will contact you when a review is due. You can also use our online medication request form if you have a question about your review.

Unused medicines
Return old or unused medicines to a pharmacy for safe disposal. Do not put them in your household bin or flush them down the toilet.
How pharmacists can help
Pharmacists can advise on common problems such as coughs, colds, sore throats, stomach problems, and aches and pains. Many pharmacies are open late or at weekends, and you do not need an appointment. Most have a private room where you can speak to pharmacy staff.
